Reverse-lit letters have solid metal faces and open backs, so the LEDs throw light onto the wall behind and the letter reads as a dark silhouette ringed in glow. It is the more architectural, more expensive look — quieter than front-lit at a distance, and considerably more striking up close.

Common questions

What does halo-lit actually look like?

The face stays solid and dark while light spills onto the wall around each letter, leaving a glowing outline. It is subtle and architectural rather than bright and loud.

Is it as readable as front-lit from the road?

No. Halo lighting is beautiful up close but carries less far at night. If your sign has to be read from a highway, front-lit acrylic faces are the safer pick.

Does the wall behind matter?

A great deal. Light, smooth surfaces reflect the halo cleanly. Dark or heavily textured walls absorb it, and we would recommend a backer panel instead.

Why does it cost more than front-lit?

Fabricated and welded stainless faces take far more labor than acrylic with trimcap, and each letter is prepped, sanded, and painted individually.
